The brief and the constraint
A west facing facade with full-height glazing was overheating the main living floor from mid-afternoon, and the client wanted complete darkness in the bedrooms without visible hardware.
What we specified
Blackout roller shades with side channels were specified in the four bedrooms, and dual layer sheer shades on the living floor with facade grouping so the west elevation closes automatically as the sun moves round.
The result
Peak afternoon temperature on the living floor was measurably reduced, and the bedrooms hold full darkness at any time of day. All hardware is concealed within ceiling pockets.
